Mayor Albert helped child
The Weymouth mayor who reunited lost child Dave Ford with his mother (Have Your Say, January 20) would have been Albert (Bert) Biles.
Bert was mayor for three terms from 1935-8. It was good to hear the mayor had time to look after young citizen Dave in between greeting two Kings, George VI and Edward VIII, who both came for fleet reviews. Bert’s nephew Tony Walden Biles went on to be Weymouth’s youngest Mayor in 1971-72.
