HE MIGHT not have started his working life as a photographer but over the last several decades Dorset’s Colin Varndell has made his name as an award-winning wildlife photographer.
Such is the quality of his work it is often to be seen in books, magazines, calendars, newspapers and advertising campaigns.
Over the years he has of necessity become something of a natural history expert – and the evidence for that is clear in his distinctive style of nature photography, as you can see by these stunning photographs cataloguing some of the highlights of Mr Varndell’s year.
As well as his photography, which also includes weddings, portraits and commissions, this year he published, with wife Susy, an ambitious book, The Natural Beauty Of Dorset.
Thanks to his generosity we are able to share some of Mr Varndell’s highlights of the year. More of Colin’s photos can be seen regularly on Facebook at Colin Varndell Natural History Photography.
