Weymouth woman Margaret Monaghan celebrated a milestone 70th birthday surrounded by family at a special lunch at the Turk’s Head Inn in Chickerell.
Born in London, Mrs Monaghan moved to Weymouth as a child for her father’s work.
She said 2015 will be a special year for her and her husband, Des, as Mr Monaghan will be celebrating his 70th birthday on February 7 and the couple also celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in November.
Mr and Mrs Monaghan, who married in Weymouth, were joined by their three children and their partners, along with five of their six grandchildren.
Mrs Monaghan said: “My eldest granddaughter wasn’t able to join us as she is away at university, but she called me in the morning to wish me a happy birthday.”
Mrs Monaghan said she enjoyed celebrating on the day, and although she didn’t have a cake, the family went to London to see violinist and conductor André Rieu as a combined birthday and Christmas treat.
