A Dorset youngster is celebrating with his teammates after being nominated for a prestigious industry award.
Aidan Carter, 12, is part of a team of young presenters in the Kingfisher Club, who volunteer one evening a week collecting requests and presenting a special radio show aimed at younger hospital patients on the Kingfisher Ward of Dorset County Hospital.
Aidan has been nominated in the ‘best newcomer’ category for the Hospital Broadcasting Association’s national hospital radio awards, and the team has also been nominated for the ‘best programme with multiple presenters’ award.
Aidan said of his achievement: “I was very surprised and excited. I am lucky to have the opportunity to do the radio and everything with it.”
Amanda Yates, Kingfisher Club Co-ordinator and Team Leader, said: “The fact that our HBA award entries reached the top ten in the whole of the UK was a fantastic start to 2015, not only for the Kingfisher Club team, but for Ridgeway Radio as a whole. Special congratulations to Aidan. We are all looking forward to hearing the final results at the end of March.”
