FUNDRAISERS are celebrating raising thousands of pounds for good causes in the run up to Christmas.
Almost £3,600 was raised for local charities by the Rotary Club of Melcombe Regis across the last three weeks.
Collections were made in Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons supermarkets, as well as street collections in Westham, where Rotary was aided by local volunteers and three local councillors, and Littlemoor, where assistance was given by community volunteers and the Moor Voices choir.
Ian Brooke, spokesman for Melcombe Regis Rotary, said: “We would like to thank the communities of Westham and Littlemoor and the staff and management of Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons for their help.”
He added: “We also want to thank the people of Weymouth for their amazing generosity and I can assure everyone who contributed that the money will be used during 2015 to aid local charities and good causes.”
