BRIDPORT’S Sir John Colfox School celebrated the end of the school year with a flurry of awards for their students.
At GCSE-level, Caitlin Appleton-Scott and George Pearse took the award for the best overall performance – while Lindsay Gubbins took the prize for best vocational student, and Lewis Betteridge for best progress.
At AS-level, Grace Crabtree and Rueben Higgins took the award for best performance. Jasmin Mather and Lawrence Pearse took the prize at A-level – while Charlie Miller received a special award for progress in the Sixth Form.
In year 10 Jade Middleton took the Humphrey Dibdin Award for contribution to the school and community, while Kirsty Ellison took the year 11 prize.
The Sixth Form award went to Bethany Thomas.
This year’s awards came as the school celebrated their best ever GCSE results. It was also the first event without Sir John Colfox, who sadly passed away in July.
Headteacher Kay Taylor said: “All the students should be extremely proud of their achievements and we are all extremely proud of them.
“Sir John had always attended senior prize giving and he would have been delighted that this year we had our best GCSE results ever.
“But Sir John would also be pleased to know that the values of public service that he held so dear are alive and well in the school which bears his name.”
