A FISHING vessel that ran aground on sands near Burton Bradstock has now been towed free and refloated.
The boat, which was left stranded on the sands near Burton Bradstock yesterday morning, was towed free by the Weymouth All-Weather lifeboat at high tide and was successfully refloated last night.
Yesterday morning, a spokesperson for the coastguard confirmed a lifeboat and RIB had been dispatched to the location but had later returned to base. A tug was then privately arranged to attend the scene and try to refloat the vessel.

The fishing vessel, named Hannah Beth, was then secured and awaited recovery.
“We could go out to the scene again this evening if we are asked to do so,” added the spokesperson.
An official at NCI Lyme Bay confirmed they received reports of a fishing vessel aground on the sands off Burton Bradstock but that it was secure. The captain of the vessel had indicated there was no damage and would attempt to refloat it at high tide.
“It has gone aground near the old coastguard station this morning. Weymouth Lifeboat and the West Bay RIB were in attendance.”
“The crew have gotten it anchored and requested a tug to refloat it. High tide is around 7pm so they will try around that time.”
