An annual fun day in Weymouth has once again been hailed as a huge success.
Littlemoor Fun Day attracted thousands of people on Saturday, proving to be bigger and better than ever before.
Unlike last year, organisers had the weather on their side with the sun shining throughout the day.
Held in Top Club Field in Louviers Road, the event featured a number of performances and displays from local groups.
There were also charity stalls, children’s rides and activities, trampolines and even steam engine rides. The event was part-funded by 3Zone Neighbourhood Panel, which is sponsored by Synergy, part of the Aster Group.
Money was also received from the ‘Working with You’ initiative, launched by the Weymouth and Portland Partnership.
Jan Hinton, one of the organisers, said the event brought the community together.
She said: “This is our fourth year. We run it because it is so expensive for parents to take their children to Weymouth on the bus all the time.
“It’s nice to have a local event where people can enjoy themselves.”
Weymouth Community Volunteers helped run the event on the day, assisting in a number of areas. Jan expressed her gratitude and said: “Weymouth Community Volunteers have been brilliant. They helped us with the set up, they’re doing face painting, car park duties and generally anything that needs doing.”
Stalls were set up around the field raising money for local charities, such as Julia’s House and Weldmar Hospicecare.
There were performances during the day from the likes of the Second Edition Majorettes.
Cllr Christine James attended the event in her position as deputy mayor of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
She said: “I think it’s brilliant. It’s been an absolutely brilliant day.
“My granddaughter is my escort for the day and she’s loving it. It’s so nice that so many people come out to enjoy it and that it gets the community together.”
Former Weymouth and Portland mayor Jess Nagel also attended the event.
She said: “This is absolutely fantastic. I’m full of admiration for all the organisers who put this on.
“It’s so well-supported by the public.
“They have put a lot of hard work into this.”
