Thousands of families descended on to the Lulworth Castle Estate yesterday as Camp Bestival got underway.
Day one at Dorset’s biggest music festival got off to a lively start with a huge range of food stalls, attractions, workshops and activities on offer to keep the crowds entertained throughout the weekend event.
Families turned up in force for the Horrible Histories and jousting events, while others enjoyed riding the Ferris wheel and clapping along to Courtney Pine's modern jazz fusion.
The music didnt disappoint either, with everything from dance to indie blaring out across the Magic Meadows fields.
Dorset-born singer and songwriter Ollie Forest and his band impressed the audience in the afternoon, throwing all their energy into a full-force gig in the Big Top.
On the Castle Stage, the Cuban Brothers blended comedy, dancing and music in their unique brand of energetic fun.
In the evening former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr brought his best efforts to the festival and entertained long-time fans and newcomers alike with his signature sound.
Headliners James showed the masses how a closing set is done, setting an upbeat tone for Saturday and Sunday’s artists with a mix of old favourites and new tunes that the crowds loved.
Beyond the main stage the Bollywood Tent in the Magic Meadows added a bit of Eastern atmosphere with its brightly coloured tent full of lanterns, where DJs Bog Fish Little Fish tempted in dance fans with their eclectic music.
Outside, festival-goers relaxed with a cocktail under parasols while the crowds milled about on the site.
