The new owners of a holiday complex near Maiden Newton invited people in to celebrate all the support they had received in setting up the business.
Caroline Newling-Ward and her family took on Lancombe Country Cottages and Lodges at Higher Chilfrome seven months ago and wanted to thank all the staff and everyone else from the local community who had helped them transform the business.
So they welcomed people in for a big barbecue with around 60 guests coming together to enjoy the occasion and check out the latest developments at the complex.
Caroline said: “We showcased our new Gypsy caravans, games room and spa room and gave guests a sneak preview of the new reception and shop area.
“We also surprised our guests with the new bell tent that we will be putting up in the orchard.”
The visitors were able to enjoy beef from neighbouring farmer Wholly Cow and biscotti and focaccia that were homemade by friends in the village hall and, like the beef, will be on offer in the new shop.
Caroline said: “It was a fantastic night. We hope to make this a more regular occurrence.”
