FRIDAY: It’s time to rock out as James hit the main stage on Friday.
Between 1982 and 1989, James were for many, Manchester’s best-kept secret, signed by Tony Wilson to Factory, they’ve been celebrated by Morrissey, Marr, New Order and The Fall - all of whom begged the band to support them on tour.
It wasn’t until the re-release of their third album ‘Gold Mother’ and the inclusion of student album ‘Sit Down’ that James took the music world by the scruff of the neck.
Throughout the 90s the band remained iconic and after a seven-year hiatus they were back with ‘Hey Ma’ closely followed by ‘The Night Before’ and ‘The Morning After’.
SATURDAY: The year is 1987: Long Island, NY.
De La Soul are about to explode on the hip hop scene, making a giant contribution to the evolution of jazz rap.
Formed as a band at high school, it wasn’t long before this trio was spotted by producer Prince Paul after submitting a demo tape of ‘Plug Tunin’.
The debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, is considered by many a hip hop masterpiece. In fact, so popular was it, that it was named Album of the Year by NME magazine.
De La Soul’s tunes are guaranteed party starters.
It’s time to get back to the golden age of hip-hop.
SUNDAY: Oh my Gosh, get on Red Alert – Basement Jaxx are bringing their iconic house sound to Lulworth Castle.
Production duo Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton are well-known for releasing some of Britain’s best anthems of the 90s and early noughties.
And they’ve made the vocals of singers like Corrina Josephs immediately recognisable.
They even headlined Glastonbury in 2005, one of the only dance acts to ever do so.
With new album ‘Junto’ out on August 25, Basement Jaxx are sure to ensure Camp Bestival goes out with a bang.
