COMEDIAN Jim Davidson made a grand entrance as he sailed into Weymouth harbour today, ahead of his appearance at Weymouth Pavilion tomorrow night.
Manning the helm of his yacht as it berthed in Weymouth harbour, Jim seemed enthusiastic ahead of his upcoming performance in the town.
Explaining his showbiz entrance, Jim said: “I sailed into Weymouth, and will be sailing into Torquay in a couple days time, as they are two of the last places on this part of my tour, so it would be silly not to bring it down really.”
Jim talked about Care After Combat which is the charity he's founded that looks after the welfare of ex-servicemen and women, and he brought 'military person' Goose along with him so they could have a chat while he sailed over to Weymouth.
He said how much he enjoyed sailing his yacht, which he had brought over from Dubai when he moved back to England 5 years ago.
Talking about the material for his upcoming Weymouth gig and future tour, Jim joked: “It's just me going out and talking. It'll be the same show as what I'll be doing in Edinburgh with all those Guardian-reading lefties, I want to show that comedy is comedy no matter where you are and what you do.”
Jim also said he planned to relax in Weymouth the night before his show, adding he would be going for a drink with his former father-in-law Bert Hilton, who lives in Weymouth.
He even spoke about what he enjoyed about playing in a theatre like Weymouth Pavilion, saying: “The thing about Weymouth is that it has this great little theatre, but like a lot of theatres now it's not being supported enough by the council. The people of Weymouth want it though, so the more that can be done to keep it alive the better.”
Jim Davidson will perform at Weymouth Pavilion at 7.30pm this evening for one night only, before gigs in Torquay and Great Yarmouth.
He will then be doing a 50-date tour across the country, called 'No Further Action'.
