A SPECIAL picnic day was held in honour of one Dorset lady.

The Blue Pool, Dorset’s tranquil visitor attraction near Wareham, hosted owner Jennifer Barnard's 80th anniversary of when she first had a picnic at the site with her family.

Called Picnic Day in celebration of the anniversary, the day had a hat theme.

Everyone wore a hat and there was a prize for best headgear, and even the cupcakes had a hat theme.

The sun shone and everyone said they had a wonderful day.

Entertainment was provided by Susan Lacey, who performed poetry and music.
