A WEYMOUTH charity is celebrating after receiving a cheque for £500.
MV Freedom is a Weymouth charity vessel that provides boat trips for disabled people.
Highclere House, on Cross Road, chose Friends of the MV Freedom as their charity of the year and raised the money with a traditional fish and chip supper, a Christmas fair and a raffle.
Patrick Vesey from Friends of the MV Freedom said: “We are very thankful to Highclere House for all their hard work in raising this fantastic amount of money for us.
“We rely entirely on donations to ensure we can continue to offer disadvantaged people the chance to go out on a boat and enjoy the sea air.
“All the money that is raised is vital to support what we do, and we hugely appreciate it.”
Highclere House’s home manager Helen Holden said: “We are delighted to have raised so much money for such an important charity in the local community.
“MV Freedom provide such an amazing service and we can’t wait to take our residents out on the boat this summer.
“I am very proud to call them Highclere House’s chosen charity and I look forward to continuing to support them in the future.”
