HERE are two lovely new arrivals: above is a newborn Grevyâ’s zebra with her mother Nadine, the first born at Chester zoo for 34 years. There are thought to be less than 2,500 left in the wild. The foal was born with brown stripes that will turn black as she matures.
Abi, a two-humped Bactrian camel with her one week old calf in their enclosure at Flamingo Land Zoo, North Yorkshire. The Bactrian camels originate from the Gobi desert and are critically endangered in the wild, with their population being less than 1,000.
