EXPECT an evening of the hippest hip-hop when De La Soul take to the stage at this year’s Camp Bestival.
One of the most popular bands from the golden age of 90s hip-hop, the American band have been unveiled as the festival’s Saturday night headline acts.
Other bands already lined up for the weekend include James, Basement Jaxx and Boy George.
Camp Bestival organiser Rob da Bank said: “De La Soul have soundtracked my life for the past 25 years since the dayglo-hippy daisy-age glory of their album Three Feet High And Rising first found its way onto my first plastic turntable.
“I’ve seen them loads of times since then and they are just one of the best party acts imaginable. Camp Bestival is going to be a very, very fun place on Saturday night!”
De La Soul came to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their hit album 2 Feet High and Rising. They developed a huge fanbase thanks to their quirky lyrics and danceable tunes.
Camp Bestival, which won Best Family Festival at the 2013 UK Festival Awards, takes place at Lulworth Castle from July 31 to August 3.
The acts lined up this year are a balanced blend of the funky and family-orientated and include the legendary Mr Tumble, Horrible Histories, Ben & Holly (live), Johnny Marr, Laura Mvula and many more.
One of the highlights will be a celebration to mark 50 years since Roald Dahl wrote his best-loved tale Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
There will be a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 50th Birthday Takeover on Saturday, with a whipple-scrumptious selection of exclusive treats, including a super pop-up exhibition, a Charlie Craftathon and lively storytelling sessions courtesy of the Roald Dahl Museum.
