As your readers may be aware Dorset Police and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner have been examining all areas of the Force to identify and deliver savings in the face of ongoing cuts to the policing budget.
As part of this, the provision of Counter Services has been reviewed and a consultation process undertaken with the public and public sector partners in relation to how this service may look in the future.
We had a very positive and understanding response to this which helped us achieve the balance between meeting public expectation and the funding shortfalls, while protecting frontline policing.
Following this consultation process we began a period of public negotiation to shape the future of Counter Services across the County.
Please note that this process closes on March 3 and we would like to remind your readers that there is still time to provide feedback.
It is important to us that we listen to all of our communities during this engagement process and we would urge anyone with suggestions or concerns to make contact via the Dorset Police website www.dorset.police.uk or by writing to: DEBBIE SIMPSON and MARTYN UNDERHILL, Police Headquarters, Winfrith, Newburgh
