A COUPLE who honeymooned in a caravan in Weymouth returned to the town to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

Dennis and Thelma Spurle spent their anniversary as VIP guests at Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park and Tower.

After their wedding in 1953, they chose Weymouth as their honeymoon destination after they managed to book a caravan for just £4.

The couple, from Torquay in Devon, were given a VIP tour of the park and got to get up close and personal with the penguins, seals and turtles and they took a ‘flight’ on the tower. Staff even gave the couple presents to unwrap on their special day. The couple said they were delighted and would definitely be returning to Weymouth.

Mrs Spurle said they wanted to give a special thank you to all the staff for making their big day extra special.

She said: “You gave us a day we will always remember, the warmth and kindness of all concerned was, and is appreciated, as were the gifts.”
