CATTISTOCK Festival takes place on the weekend of Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23. In addition to some of the associated events already advertised, we would like to point out that there will be a Church Flower Festival throughout the weekend with beautiful arrangements that are well worth a visit. There will also be recitals by visiting organists and bell ringing in the church. On the Sunday there will be Hymns and Pimms at 6.30pm and a Grand Raffle at 7.30pm.
During the weekend there will be open gardens and open studios. The hunt kennels will also be open and teas will be served in the Savill Hall. There will be an art gallery with an exhibition of safari photographs by Peter Farmer and a wood turning workshop.
Tickets cost £5 and will be available at the car parks, the Fox and Hounds, the Savill Hall or the Church. Car parking is free. Proceeds from the Cattistock Festival will be divided between the Cattistock Community Fund (the newly formed grant making fund that supports all village amenities and voluntary activities) and the Cattistock Fabric Fund.

THERE will be a concert at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Melbury Bubb at 7.30pm on Saturday June 15.
Linda Readman will sing, and Wendy Partridge and Richard Hill will be on guitars. The evening will feature music for two guitars from the Renaissance to Spanish composers, and songs by Joan Baez, Ralph McTell, Janis Ian, Franchesca Blumenthal and others.

Refreshments will be served. You are advised to bring a cushion! Proceeds will be divided between Motor Neurone Disease Society and Melbury Bubb Church. FROME Valley History Society will be going on a visit to Fleet on Tuesday June 18 to see wildlife with Don Moxam.
Members should meet at 2pm in the car park on the right beyond Ferrybridge. You need to buy a 2-hour parking ticket (probably £1 at that time). Then meet Don by the café for a conducted tour. The fee for that is £5.
On Monday July 8 there will be a visit to the Church of Our Lady and St Ignatius in Chideock, near Bridport. Whether you have been a Christian for years or are just curious, come along and meet like-minded people for a drink, chat and informal bible study. MELBURY Team Mothers’ Union will hold its next meeting at 2.30pm on Wednesday June 26 in Halstock House, when John Milner of Team Romania will talk about their project.

THE LADIES’ Thursday group will be holding its next meeting at 7.30pm on Thursday June 27 in Bradford Peverell Village Hall, when a representative will be speaking about the Margaret Green Animal Rescue charity. Anyone is welcome to come along and learn more about the charity’s work looking after a variety of animals in the Dorset area.
STRATTON’s Summer Fayre Weekend begins on Saturday June 29 with skittles and barbecue on the village green (or in the village hall if the weather is wet). Please arrive for 7.30pm.
The Summer Fayre itself takes place from 2pm on Sunday June 30 on the village green and features the Dolphin Marching Band with the newly formed local majorettes troupe, the Starlet Display Team.
There will be the usual attractions, including a bouncy castle, coconut shy, skittles, BBQ, face painting, teas, cakes and ice creams, hawks, macaws and parrots! There will also be a novelty dog show, sponsored by Park House Pet Supplies. All this will take place between 2.30 and 5pm on Sunday June 30. Do come along to the village recreation ground to join in the fun or watch the displays.

VILLAGE Praise on Sunday June 30 at 7pm in Maiden Newton parish church as guests of Graham, the Rector - come along and enjoy reflective worship with songs and brief but thoughtful teaching. There is no need to book – just turn up.
ENJOY a delicious cream tea at Manor Farm (beside the road as you drive through the village of Frome St Quintin) from 2.30pm on Sunday June 30.
There will also be a variety of stalls selling cakes, jams, chutneys, plants, vegetables and much more. There will be a raffle too.

This year’s event takes place on the afternoon of Sunday, July 14 in Cattistock Playing Field. We are giving advance notice of this event, as we need to ‘sell’ most of the balloons in advance. Do contact us if you would like to buy balloons yourself (£1.50 each) or if you would like to ‘sell’ a sheet of 10 or 20 balloons to family and friends.
The prize for the person whose balloon travels the furthest is a hot air balloon ride for two (or cash equivalent).
We also have a quiz available at £1 per copy. There are 70 questions (some factual, some cryptic) relating to parts of houses and objects therein.
