P D Y Park District Youth
We have now started the new term and are looking forward to some outdoor activities (weather permitting!) and most exciting of all our very first all day outing for all club members on Tuesday July 30 - destination is a secret at the moment!
The Youth Club has been very fortunate to receive funding from Children in Need which will enable us to expand our activities and also fund an assistant leader. We now have an average weekly attendance of 24+ members and need more help which is great.
On Tuesday July 2 from 6.30pm we will be holding what has become our annual fete when club members run various stalls - tombola, competitions and a cake stall. Donations of tombola prizes and bric a brac can be handed in to the Community Centre any weekday between 10 a.m. and 12 noon and of course, on the day, cakes! Please come along and spend a few pennies and show club members that by working they will be able to buy the equipment they want for the club. Tea, coffee and cold drinks will be available.
The Club is open to school years 6 to 9 this term and we are hoping to start a meeting for older youngsters next school year but there will more news on that later in the year.
If you are in the right age range and want to have fun and make new friends come along on Tuesday from 6.30 to 8.30 it only costs 50 pence and your first time is free! Looking forward to seeing you all - Antonia, Genny and Robyn
Community Quiz Night
Another very successful quiz produced over £100 for the Community Forum funds as well as generating huge enjoyment for the 55 residents who took part. A huge thanks to all who helped with the event and especially to John for organising it and for quiz master Paul.
The quiz was won by "Front Row", with "Ping-pong Players" being respectable runners up and "Avenue Road"- who won a mystery prize.
The next Community Quiz is on Saturday June 8 at 7pm, so come along and join in the fun.
