VILLAGE postal services will continue to operate from a local pub after a successful trial.
The Gaggle of Geese began running the local Post Office, which had previously operated from The Old Chapel Stores, on February 22 and will now continue following public consultation.
Feedback requesting earlier opening hours was noted, meaning the sub-postmaster from Cerne Abbas will now provide the service from 9am to noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
A handrail will also be installed at the entrance to the pub to improve access.
Post Office regional network manager for Wales and the West of England Tony Jones said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Buckland Newton and we are confident that the hosted outreach services will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“We have made a commitment to a no more permanent branch closure programme.”
