While some may sympathise with council employees having to re-locate to Dorchester as a result of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council moving whole departments there, I would venture to suggest that it is grossly unfair to expect cash-strapped council taxpayers to subsidise a free bus service for those involved.
Council employees are well paid and like every other worker should pay their own travelling costs.
Hundreds of workers from Weymouth & Portland have to pay their own way to Dorchester daily, to work in Dorset County Hospital, as well as County Hall.
The council is setting a serious precedent by introducing this free transport and, make no mistake, those who voted it through will be required to answer at election time, so my last question would be: Who authorised this? It is just not on. Jess Nagel Honorary Alderman Weymouth
