The Victoria Park area of Dorchester, particularly Alice Road and Cambridge Road has become a regular dog toilet.
Following numerous reports of dog fouling to the local dog warden over the past two months, the situation is becoming worse, I therefore feel compelled to highlight the problem through your letters page.
The owners/idiots responsible for not picking up their dog’s mess obviously have the inability to recognise or care what a disgusting, selfish and socially unacceptable act this is. My only hope is that they can actually read.
It has a huge impact on our local community, not only do the kids walking to school have to avoid it, someone has to clean it up, not to mention the potential health hazards it presents.
The local council has a reporting and street-cleaning process in place but it is having little impact in this case. The signs on the lamposts and around the community are clear and well posted but in my opinion, they are no deterrent.
The perpitrators obviously disregard their dog’s toilet habits when no-one is around, perhaps the council should employ roof snipers, I for one would quite happily contribute.
Let the punishment fit the crime. If caught, the owners should be made to clean up dog mess on all local streets until they become sickened and saddened by the sight of it, as I am!
