JOHN Pearce, of Alf’s Fish and Chips, spent the day taking supplies to elderly people in the area who were unable to get out of their homes.
He said: “It’s something we do every winter when the weather is bad, it’s just our way of doing something for the community.
“My wife does the driving and I walk from the car to the house.
“We will all be old one day, and I would hate to think that someone slipped over and broke a bone for want of milk and bread.”
He added: “We mainly deliver the essentials, but there’s a lady in her 90s who always likes fish and chips when it’s cold.”
