Dorset County Hospital was able to run the vast majority of its services despite the severe weather.
Chief executive Jean O’Callaghan said: “Many of our staff went to great lengths to ensure they got into work at the hospital today and their efforts are very much appreciated – we have been able to run the vast majority of our services as usual.”
Libraries and mobile libraries were also hit by the white-out.
All mobile libraries were cancelled yesterday and several libraries including Dorchester and Weymouth were also closed.
Most children’s centres were closed but a few, including Weymouth and Portland remained open.
