Hello everyone. I hope that you all had a terrific Christmas and New Year. I just have a few notices for you. The Abbotsbury and Portesham Branch British Legion women’s section are having their annual women versus men skittles match on Monday 14th January at the Swan Inn at 7.00pm. Supper is available at £4, so please contact Peggy Ford on (01305)871269 asap. The ladies won last year by only 1 pin so I wonder what will happen in the rematch?
Lucy Bailley has organised a Christmas tree collection to raise funds for Chesil bank parish, so if you haven’t yet found a home for your used tree take it to the Abbotsbury car park on 24th January. Lucy can be contacted on (01305)871820 if you require further information.
The Abbotsbury lunch club are having another meal on 25th January at the Strangways hall Club (for persons 50 years or older) at 1 pm with a hot two-course lunch for £4.50. The menu this time is Cottage pie served with fresh vegetables followed by Pineapple upside-down pudding and custard. Vegetarian options are available. The Abbotsbury Diamond club are meeting at Portesham village hall at 2.30pm on 15th January. New members are always welcome. Call Anita Buckland (01305)871751
Abbotsbury beachcombers association are now on facebook “Abbotsbury Beachcombers” There will be a skittles night on the 26th January and a St.Valentines’ quiz on the 9th February. More details to follow.
Finally, last year the Christmas bazaar held at the Strangways hall on 8th December was a success and £475 was raised. This was split between the Chesil bank Preschool and St. Nicholas’ Church in Abbotsbury, thanks to all who supported this event and helped to raise this great total.
