HOLDSWORTH Eric Howard Passed away peacefully at Westhaven Hospital on the 13th January 2023 aged 92. Beloved husband of the late Sybil, loving companion of Rene for 17 years, benevolent uncle to David, Andrew and Jonathan, great uncle to Beth, Will, Josie & Lucy. A keen mountaineer in his youth, leader of walks for the Casterbridge Ramblers for many years, country dancer, folk music lover, MoD scientist. He will greatly missed by all his family and many friends in his native North East and in Weymouth, his home for over 60 years. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday 6th February, 2.30pm at Weymouth Crematorium. All enquiries to Rose Funeral Service, 23 Shrubbery Lane, Wyke Regis, DT4 9LY, 01305 785832.

I met Eric in July 1992 when I joined the Casterbridge Ramblers . He was always willing to lead walks and when I asked him why he said "So I can go where I want, when I want.". He also liked to be ahead of us noisy womenfolk and any chatting was left to Sybil!
We did however all appreciate him and admired his skill, knowledge and informative and amusing anecdotes. A true Northern Gentleman.
