LEGENDARY British Band The Manfreds are heading to Bridport Arts Centre as part of their half-century Anniversary Celebration Tour.
Original Manfred Mann members Paul Jones, Mike Hugg and Tom McGuinness, are joined by Rob Townsend, Marcus Cliffe and Simon Currie as the exciting new line-up of The Manfreds.
Since Manfred Mann formed in 1962, they have firmly secured their place in the history books of British popular and R&B music.
They’ll be playing from their greatest hits list which includes: 5-4-3-2-1, Just Like A Woman, Do Wah Diddy, Semi Detached Suburban Mr James, Sha La La, Ha! Ha! Said the Clown, Come Tomorrow, The Mighty Quinn, My Name is Jack and Pretty Flamingo.
These are all before you even get to their individual hits, such as Build Me Up Buttercup and Handbags & Gladrags by Mike d’Abo or the theme to The Likely Lads and Up the Junction.
Arts centre programme manager Margie Barbour said: “Since seeing them play in Putney when I was 14 I have been a fan of their music and was delighted when I heard they could squeeze us in to their busy schedule before going on to play at Cowes. “It will be a seated gig now as many of us now are feet-tappers rather than full out rock-and-rollers – but there will be room at the sides for some of us to jiggle along – but no rushing the stage this time!”
The all seated event is on August 16 at 8pm. Tickets are £19/£18 members in the balcony and £17/£16 members seated downstairs. Call Bridport Arts Centre box office on 01308 424204 for more information.
