WEYMOUTH’S Olympic party continues this weekend with three nights of top-notch music as part of the Bayside Festival.

Tonight’s highlight is the 12-piece Ultimate Earth, Wind and Fire who will pay tribute to the disco kings of the 1970s and 80s.

Tomorrow night’s headliner is a glam rock party featuring the ever-brilliant T-Rextasy and on Sunday The Beach Buoys celebrate 50 years of fabulous Beach Boys music.

Each night is also packed with music from top local bands and entertainers – see weymouthbaysidefestival.co.uk for full details.

Other Cultural Olympiad events in the town include Jurassic Airlines at Weymouth Pavilion – a simulated trip back in time to the Jurassic era – and the chance to make your mark by contributing to Artwey’s Giant Wall of Olympic glory at the Brewers Quay workshop behind Hope Square in Weymouth.

And let’s not forget The Big Grin, the celebration of Mr Punch’s 350th birthday, which is taking place tomorrow and Sunday in Weymouth.

There will be a children’s puppet parade along the prom led by a brass band, a Victorian puppet stage recreated by Weymouth’s own ‘Professor’ Mark Poulton and other top performers, a book signing by Judith Stinton (The Way To Do It: Frank Edmonds, Punch & Judy Man) and a Mr Punch sand sculpt by sand artist Mark Anderson.

There will also be An Audience with Punch and Judy at Weymouth Pavilion at 6.30pm on Sunday.

Away from the Olympics , Miracle Theatre is back in Dorset with their latest summer show, The Importance of Being Earnest.

You can catch this wonderfully witty piece of theatre at al fresco sites in Melbury Osmond between Dorchester and Yeovil tonight (call 01935 83410 for tickets and details), Sandford Orcas near Sherborne tomorrow (call 01963 220208) and at Kimmeridge bay near Wareham on Sunday (call 01305 269512).

Performances start at 7.30pm with the venues opening beforehand for picnics.

Hits from the Blitz is the feel-good musical show coming to Bridport Arts centre on Sunday.

The performance is packed with famous wartime tunes and singalong songs brought to life by the singers and multi- instrumentalists of the Five star swing band.

Hits from the Blitz starts at 7.30pm and tickets and full details are available from Bridport Arts centre on 01308 424204.
