ORIGINAL work from the highly rated Dorset based artist, Kenneth Butler Evans, have gone on display at Cilla and Camilla @home in Beaminster. This is the first time in 25 years that the painter’s work has been on show and none of his work has been available since his death 25 years ago.
At that time his widow, Ann, decided to store his work until their children were older and could appreciate it. However the time is now right and she has decided to start selling some of his work.
Before his death he exhibited at world famous venues such as the Woodstock Gallery, Royal Society of Watercolour Artists Gallery and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Kenneth’s wife Ann said: “Ken felt he was very much a British painter, following in the steps of Turner, Constable, Samuel Palmer and Stanley Spencer.
“Although he painted through the 70s and 80s he had no interest in abstract work and just went his own way, using old methods of preparing the grounds and using the paints.”
The exhibition is running at Cilla and Camilla @home in Beaminster’s Square throughout this month.
Not only are the paintings on show – a selection have been copied onto greetings cards and are available during and after the exhibition.
