RENOWNED open-air theatre company Illyria will bring Henry V to Bridport on July 31.
If the evening is fine the performance will take place on the Millennium Green.
In the event of heavy rain the event will be taken into Bridport Arts Centre.
General manager Dee Fenton said: “Illyria’s performances are always a joy, polished and full of imagination.
“We look forward to the group returning to Bridport – whatever the weather.”
Illyria has an unparalleled reputation for the clarity and authenticity of its Shakespearean style. Each production is performed with only a handful of props and no scenery – as almost all of Shakespeare’s plays were conceived. Henry V is Shakespeare’s most popular historical drama.
Full of patriotism, pageantry and poetry, it tells the gripping story of an inexperienced king who leads a small and weakened army into the battle of Agincourt against the might of the French.
With towering odds stacked against them the English win a sweeping victory. But after such an extraordinary military conquest, how will Henry fare with the greatest challenge of all – the conquest of Princess Catherine’s heart?
The show starts at 7pm and tickets are available from Bridport Arts Centre’s Box office priced £12/ £10 members/£8 concessions/ £35 family.
