CONTINUE to celebrate autumn with Bridport Community Orchard’s Apple Day tomorrow.
This is a national day of celebration of orchards and apples that includes games and activities for children, apple products to buy, cake stalls, apple juicing to watch, drink and buy to take home.
There will also be cider, rural craft demonstrations and Green products plus a programme of music, dancing and singing.
If you are feeling peckish there will also be ploughman’s lunches and cakes, in the orchard and Church House, plus hot drinks.
Groves Nursery and the West Dorset beekeeping association will also be present and Dorset Wildlife Trust will be organising pond-dipping sessions.
The Community Orchard was established in 2008. It is just under one acre of land, located in the heart of Bridport, off South Street and behind St Mary’s Churchyard.
It grew out of two community initiatives, one to save a field from development and the other, a year-long project of The Symondsbury Apple Project, which was designed to raise awareness of Dorset’s rich orchard heritage.
Tomorrow’s Apple Day runs from 11am until 3pm. For details visit bridportcommunityorchard.org.uk At the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis, Angel Heart returns and this time they are bringing their delicious show Nutjellynana.
Alice, Melby and Fidge are three cuddly toys long since loved and left behind and they now lie forgotten.
Life looks like it’s lost its stuffing until Fidge has a banana-brained plan and decides they should build a rocket ship, blast off, and boldly go where no toy has gone before But when the good spaceship Nutjellynana reaches outer space, Melby is sucked down a black hole, leaving Alice and Fidge to come to his rescue.
The show is at 2pm tomorrow and tickets are available from Lyme Regis TIC on 01297 442138.
You can also see Squashbox Theatre’s new family show Universarama at West Lulworth and Evershot village halls as well as at Durlston Country Park during half term.
During this fun show, Professor Johnson will reveal the secrets of the universe using only puppets, props and household objects.
