THE work of award-winning garden designer Helen Elks-Smith MSGD is on show this weekend at South Barn in Langton Matravers near Swanage.
The stunning garden surrounding a traditional Dorset farmhouse and buildings was completed in the summer of 2010. It includes swathes of meadowland, sympathetic stone walkways and walls and a mown grass path linking different areas of the grounds.
The garden also offers fabulous views of the surrounding countryside.
South Barn is open as part of a joint initiative between the Society of Garden Designers (SGD) and the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) which invites members of the public to see some of the best gardens in the area and meet the designers and owners.
Last year, the scheme only ran in London, but still managed to attract more than 6,000 visitors.
South Barn will be open on Sunday, September 25 between noon and 4pm.
All buskers, pianists and street artists are being invited to head down to Lyme regis this weekend to take part in the town’s B Sharp Busking Festival.
If you have an urge to play a piano while looking out to sea, just turn up and play or book your time and invite your friends for a sing along.
The festival runs tomorrow and Sunday and as well as music and drumming, there will be the chance to see some great street art and have a go at making your own.
Among the events is a one-hour Big Drumming Workshop with Magic Drum, which takes place tomorrow at noon at the Masonic Hall and will be followed by a performance and open workshop at 1.30pm in the Marine Parade Shelters.
The festival has been running for several years and attracts hundreds of musicians from all over the UK and further afield.
It promises to be great, if unusual, fun for all the family. The market runs from noon until 4pm and includes the antique centre, shops and stalls selling furniture, fabric, flowers, food and much more.
