WHEN five prostitutes vanished and were found dead in and around Ipswich, the country went into shock.

Now students on Weymouth College’s BTEC National Diploma Performing Arts Year Two have turned those gruesome events into a play, Silent Wright, which they are bringing to the stage next week.

It is set in Ipswich in 2006. Five young women are making a living through prostitution, but within two months they are all struck down and five families are left devastated by the loss of a daughter.

But what would you do if you suddenly found out your partner was a serial killer?

The Year Two students explore the story from the perspective of an ordinary woman whose life is irreconcilably changed by the man she loves.

Inspired by original stories, film footage and eye witness accounts, the young dramatists interpret some of the events associated with the lead up to and arrest of serial killer Steve Wright, who is now serving a whole life sentence.

Portrayed through stylistic dance and hard-hitting drama, the students bring you a thought-provoking performance.

Silent Wright is being performed in the Bay Theatre at Weymouth College, Cranford Avenue, Weymouth on June 2 and 3 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £8 plus concessions from the box office on 01305 208702.

• Following Silent Wright, the bay Theatre will be the next venue for Class of 11, at which the Level Three National Diploma Music students present their end of course summer show with exciting contributions from other music and music technology groups.

The show is on June 10 at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 plus concessions.
