JOIN former Bard of Exeter and Wondermentalist Liv Torc for an evening of vibrant new poetry and versification.

This event is one of many Off the Page poetry initiatives in a partnership between Bridport Arts Centre and Dorset County Council Libraries and Arts Service to develop young poets and performance poetry across Dorset.

It brings together the best young poets from Bridport and around.

Liv will be hosting the event at Bridport Arts Centre on May 29 where she will perform alongside teenagers and adults involved in the project, some of whom will be performing their work in public for the first time.

Elvis McGonagall and Johnny Fluffypunk will also be there for what promises to be a lively and fun event.

Off The Page aims to inspire young people aged between 13 and 25 from a wide range of experience with a passion for poetry and words.

Another objective is to engage young people who may not have worked with poetry before, and adults who already write, in workshops to develop their skills and confidence in poetry writing and performance.

Organisers also hope to be able to build new audiences for poetry events.

The project’s lead artist is Elvis McGonagall (aka Richard Smith), a veteran of Radio 4 and the Blue Suede Sporran Club and a regular and much-loved performer at Bridport Arts Centre and elsewhere in Dorset.

Anyone who would like to get involved in this event or the Off the Page project are asked to contact Liv Torc the poet in residence via email on dorsetlibraries@dorsetcc.gov.uk or telephone 01305 225000.
