FOLLOWING their sell-out success with Titanic the Musical last year, Milton Musical Society returns to the Regent Centre in Christchurch from Wednesday to Saturday with the Tony-nominated musical The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Baroness Orczy’s classic, swashbuckling tale of dashing derring-do during the terror of the French Revolution is set in 1794.
A mysterious shadowy hero emerges from the English nobility, intent on saving the heads of his fellow French aristocrats from the deadly kiss of Madame la Guillotine.
The ‘damned, elusive Pimpernel’ and his famous calling card, the red star-shaped wild flower known as the Scarlet Pimpernel, is the scourge of the French revolutionaries.
This charismatic story, part fact and part fiction, captured the world’s imagination with numerous film and TV adaptations over the years.
Now it is performed at the Regent as an exciting musical full of high adventure, romantic dalliances, razor-sharp swordplay, splendid sets, sumptuous costumes and a sweeping score.
Performances are at 7.30pm and there is a 2.30 matinee on the Saturday. Ticket prices vary and are available from the box office on 01202 499199.
