FINGERS crossed for good weather this weekend because the next few days are packed with fabulous outdoor events.

Conservation, charities and celebrities all have their part to play this weekend and the end result should be two days of fun and adventure for people of all tastes and ages.

One thousand women are expected to muster at Weymouth Pavilion at midnight tomorrow for this year’s Midnight Walk to raise funds for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

There are two walks – one from the Pavilion to the Oasis Café at Overcombe Corner and back (six km) or to the Riviera Hotel at Bowleaze Cove and back (10km) – and registration is £16, with walkers needing to be 14 years or above.

An adult must accompany walkers under the age of 16. If you haven’t done the walk before, contact Weldmar’s fundraising office on 01305 215315 or visit weld- hospice.org.uk Bridport Carnival also takes place tomorrow, culminating in the grand procession through town from 7.30pm followed by dancing in the town square from 9pm onwards.

There will also be a torchlight procession to West Bay on Sunday, which is part of the annual fun day to raise funds for the RNLI.

Weldmar is also set to benefit from Buckham Fair Pony and Dog Show, which takes place at Beaminster Down on Sunday.

Between 10am and 4pm there will be horse and dog shows, a food piazza selling products from top local suppliers and a traditional fair with dodgems, a big wheel, chair-o-plane and more.

There will also be a giant Wurlitzer playing at the entrance, a bucking bronco, laser clay shooting and a large bungee trampoline.

The Fair Field will also be displaying up to 20 vintage cars and there will be 40 vintage scooters arriving at 4.30pm for a drive-by and to present a cheque from their own fundraising day.

The pony classes and gymkhana start at 10am and the dog show at 12.30pm. Canine classes include waggiest tail, best trick and best rescue dog and these will all be judged by Martin Clunes, who is one of the organisers of the fair.

Admission is £2 with children free and the fair and food will run on until 9pm.
