THIS weekend looks set to be a busy one for the county town. Tomorrow sees the first Antelope Summer Fayre take place in Antelope Walk to raise funds for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
Between 9am and 5pm, the atmospheric walkway will be full of street entertainers, store promotions, demonstrations, face painting and more. Also tomorrow, Dr Ron Dawson, the Dorset-based author of the Amazing Adventures Of Scary Bones The Skeleton series, will at Waterstones in South Street meeting his fans and signing copies of his books from 11am until 2pm.
On Sunday, the One World Festival takes place at the Kings Road playing fields.
The event, which runs from 11am until 4pm, is based around sports, food and cultural activities/specialities from around the world.
All are invited to come along either to perform music, dance or sing or form a team to take part in some of the organised fun sessions of kabaddi and tug of war, or to bring a stall and promote your own organisation.
Shanty singers The Wareham Whalers will also be in fine voice in the Borough Gardens on Sunday.
The group formed six years ago as an informal singing group but have since started raising funds for charity.
You can catch them in the Gardens from 2.30pm, so come along and bring a picnic.
Weymouth’s Nothe Fort celebrates 150 years all weekend with family activities, gunfire and stalls, while veteran comic Jim Davidson returns to Weymouth Pavilion at 7.45pm today. Call 01305 783225 for bookings and details.
