A TRIO of acts have been lined up for The Sublime Folk Concert at the Electric Palace in Bridport.

The triple bill on Friday, August 6 includes singer/songwriter and guitarist Maurice Dickson from Northern Ireland with the wonderful traditional uilleann Irish piper Catherine Ashcroft.

Also playing are acoustic duo Tinderbox from Bournemouth plus event organiser and banjo and fiddle whiz, Bridport’s own Stompin’ Dave Allen.

Belfast-born Maurice Dickson, a professional musician for more than three decades, has built an enthusiastic audience for his powerful brand of contemporary folk, Irish folk and blues.

He has toured across the UK, Ireland, Europe and America and performed at many of the major folk festivals including Sidmouth, Edinburgh, Shetland, Belfast, Aaron, and Cork.

Tinderbox recently returned from a hugely successful US tour where they received night after night of standing ovations.

This original acoustic folk duo feature the ‘honey-like’ vocals of Monique Houraghan, and the intricate finger style guitar of Dan Tucker.

They have supported many high profile acts, such as Ralph McTell, Jon Allen & Corinne West. They will be performing across the UK this summer with appearances at Wimborne, Swanage, and Wadebridge folk festivals.

Stompin’ Dave is fast becoming a favourite at The Electric Palace and is organising this night of ‘sublime folk’ as a treat for Bridport folk fans. A busy summer of stompin’ is ahead for Dave with many festival performances scheduled, including Glastonbury, Tolpuddle Martyrs, and The Great Dorset Steam Fair.

The concert is on Friday, August 6 and tickets are £10 in advance from Bridport Tourist Information Centre on 01308 424901. Tickets will also be available of the door for £12. For more information visit electricpalace.org.uk
