A STUNNING collection of wildlife art will be on display at Dorset Wildlife Trust for Dorset Art Weeks.
The exhibition covers a broad range of media from photography, painting and sculpture to pottery and jewellery by acclaimed wildlife artists including Andrew Stock, president of the Society of Wildlife Artists.
As well as general wildlife subjects, specialist collections range from botanical to hares, fungi and underwater art.
Giles Harbottle, co-ordinating the DWT exhibition, said: "We've again assembled a very broad range of work, all with a wildlife theme, which this year includes innovative work in sculpture in wire and wood and, for the first time, pottery and jewellery. The price range will appeal to both the shallow and deeper pocket, with all proceeds going to help the cause of conservation".
The wildlife art exhibition is open daily 10am to 5pm until Sunday, June 8 at Dorset Wildlife Trust, Brooklands Farm, Forston, Dorchester DT2 7AA. There is free entry and for more information, ring 01305 264620.
Portland-based tiara maker Andrea Frankham-Hughes is also exhibiting and selling her products in Dorset Art Weeks and 10 per cent of money she raises will be given to Dorset Wildlife Trust.
Andrea explained: "A lot of my designs at the moment are inspired by pink sea fan coral. You see it everywhere, on the beach where it is washed up after being damaged by the scallopers out in the bay.
"So I thought I would put my money where my mouth is and give something back to DWT to help them preserve local wildlife."
Andrea will also be offering visitors the opportunity to visit her studio and have a go at making simple bead jewellery bracelets and necklaces. The kits cost from £6 and tuition from Andrea is free.
She is holding workshops and will open her gallery on Saturday to Monday, May 30 to June 1 between 11am and 5pm and on Friday to Sunday, June 6 to 8 between 11am and 5pm. Other opening times can be arranged by appointment: phone Andrea on 07971 058336.
You can see Andrea's work in her studio in The Tower, Southwell Business Park, Portland DT5 2NL. (DAW number 237).
