A STUNNING exhibition of paintings by Claire Streather, with sculpture by David Nicholls, is currently on show at White Stones café gallery on Portland.
Claire Streather was born on Portland and the place and its people remain an important focus for her work.
In her paintings she translates both the fabric and spirit of the landscape around her into a personal language of colours, shapes, textures, broken-up forms and overlapping layers.
Oxford-born sculptor David Nicholls works from his studio in Portland, Dorset producing unique hand-finished sculpture in a variety of materials.
The sculptures range from one-off hand-carved original pieces in stone and wood and small editions cast in bronze and aluminium to large pieces for a garden setting.
His work encompasses themes such as growth, vitality and nature using carving, modelling and casting techniques while exploring a diverse variety of materials. The exhibition runs until Wednesday, July 2 at White Stones café gallery, 13 Easton Street, Portland.
There is parking outside and full disabled access. Families are welcome and there is a licensed bar and beautiful courtyard garden.
Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, Sundays and bank holidays, 10am to 4pm. For further details call 01305 860003 or visit whitestonescafegallery.com
