FORGET the rain and come along for some great holiday fun at Bridport Arts Centre.
This is the message from learning coordinator Kate Wilson who has lined up an exciting array of activities for children and young people during the summer holidays. Whether you want to learn to stage fight or perform in a play you have created, there is something stimulating for all ages.
The first week of the holidays, July 24 to 26, sees a three-day summer school by BACStage, the Arts Centre’s Youth Theatre for 12 to 18-year-olds.
Participants will spend three intensive days devising and creating a new play to be performed on the arts centre forecourt on July 26.
The summer school costs £60 or £40 concession and will be led by Lecoq trained actor and director Jonny Hoskins who also runs the weekly Junior BACStage drama club.
The second week focuses on younger children with a range of workshops for eight to 11-year-olds including stage combat on July 30, a half day wire sculpture workshop on August 1 and carnival costume making August 2.
The fees are £15/£13 concession or sibling for a full day and £10 or £8 for a half day.
All the workshops are led by experienced professionals and places are limited.
For further information about any of the workshops listed or to make a booking, please call the arts centre’s box office on 01308 424204 or call in Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.
