STUDLAND Beach in east Dorset is the place to be for family fun and frolics over the half-term week.

Tomorrow, you can relive the ice-creams of your youth – and introduce them to your youngsters – as the Knoll Beach Café is selling everything from Knickerbocker Glories to ice cones , with prices from £1.75.

On top of this, the National Trust are organising a host of family-friendly expeditions and games throughout the week.

On Monday you can have a go at the Smooth and Slippery Reptile Trail, which runs between 10.30am and 3.30pm.

Starting from the Discovery Centre at Knoll Beach, follow the trail to find out about our reptilian residents, followed by badge making. Price £2 per child.

The following day the Wild Child Explorer Walk –Seashore Safari is at 10.30am and all are invited to meet at the Discovery Centre before scouring the seashore for signs of life on this guided walk.

On June 1 you can explore the heath around Studland with an expert guide and have a go at spotting some of the habitat’s rare winged inhabitants.

The Mobile Bird Safari takes place at 10am, noon and 3pm. Meet at the turning for Greenlands Farm on Ferry Road, Studland. Again, booking is essential on 01929 450259.

Beasts of the Heath is another Wild Child explorer walk, this time taking place on June 2 at 10.30am. All are invited to pop along and see what makes its home on the heath – call 01929 450259 to book your place.

You can also grab your torch and take part in Nature by Nightfall, on Friday, June 3 at 8.30pm. This offers you the rare opportunity to search for glow worms and listen for nightjars. Meet at the turning for Greenlands Farm on Ferry Road. Limited numbers – booking essential on 01929 450259.

Half term events end with World Oceans Day on, Sunday, June 5, from 11am to 3pm.
