A DERELICT flat in Weymouth has been sold for more than £70,000 at an auction.

The terraced property, based on Hereford Road, had a guide price of £55,000 at an auction by Auction House Symonds & Sampson on Wednesday, June 9.

The one-bedroom first floor flat, which forms part of a mid-terrace property, has a bathroom, living room, and kitchen as well as a garden and demised loft area.

The flat requires a full refurbishment throughout, as photos of the kitchen and living area show the walls need plastering and redecorating, as well as new carpet and flooring needs to be laid.

Given the property’s location, people attempted to grab themselves a bargain and placed a number of bids.

The property was eventually sold for £71,000. In comparison, Zoopla states the average house value of a Weymouth flat is £202,074.
