The Dorset Echo Pub of the Year title has been won by a much-loved venue just outside of the town centre.
The Belvedere Inn on High West Street, Weymouth, was crowned best pub in the area thanks to the votes of its loyal customers.
The team at the Belvedere Inn is ‘immensely grateful for the support’ of their customers that led them to win the award.
Landlady Lyn Mackenzie not only puts their win down to the pub’s big music scene and brilliant pub garden but mainly the staff who help to make the pub the venue that it is.
She said: “Our dedicated staff are passionate about what they do, and they go above and beyond to make our customers feel valued and cared for.
“I think I do my best to support the team to be themselves and bring their own personalities.”
Lyn said: “I still haven’t got my head around the fact that we won it, we had some pretty major competition.”
The pub hosts live music events most evenings ranging from talented local artists to established bands, as well as open mic nights with ‘no age restrictions.’
The landlady added: “Our stage has become a platform for nurturing musical talent and entertaining our cherished customers.”
At the heart of the beloved establishment is a team commitment to ‘preserve the essence of a traditional pub.’
In order to keep their customers happy, the Belvedere Inn is dedicated to offering a ‘diverse and ever-changing selection of ales,’ with many being sourced from local breweries.
They also offer a good selection of food, ranging from classic pub grub like gammon and egg to burgers and baguettes, as well as a homemade roast on Sundays.
There are indoor and outdoor seating options available as the venue boasts a ‘hidden gem,’ located just out the back of the pub in the form of a beer garden which Lyn described as ‘an outdoor oasis.’
She said: “We are immensely grateful for the support of our customers and the recognition from our community.
“Winning The Dorset Echo's Best Pub of the Year is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion that drives us every day.”
