Changes to the Coast Path between Lyme Regis and Rufus Castle, Portland

Changes to the Coast Path between Lyme Regis and Rufus Castle, Portland

A call for Representations and Objections

Natural England has been asked by the government to establish a continuous walking route around England's coastline. As part of this programme, our report describing proposed changes to public access between Lyme Regis and Rufus Castle, Portland is published on 8th July 2015.
This report has been drawn up in partnership with Dorset County Council and follows a period of public consultation. The proposed changes would allow greater access to the coast for walkers and enable the path to be automatically re-instated where the coastline is affected by erosion.
Natural England would like to highlight the fact that representations and objections about the proposed changes can be made for a period of eight weeks from the date of publication of our report.
The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs will make a decision about the report when all representations and objections have been considered. Establishment of the new access arrangements will not begin until that decision is made.
How to make a representation or objection
Representations can be made by any person, while objections can only be made by owners and occupiers of affected land.
The report is available from Natural England's website at: www.gov.uk/ government/collections/england-coast- path-improving-public-access-to-the-coast

The report can also be viewed at certain local authority offices, libraries and tourist information centres in the Lyme Regis to Portland area. Please contact Natural England or visit our website for details of these locations.
All representations and objections must be made on the correct forms supplied by Natural England and can be obtained from our website at the above address, or from the locations described above. Copies of these forms can also be requested from our office at:
