A care home in Dorset is among the top 20 highest rated care homes in the South West.
The rating and review website Carehome.co.uk has announced the winners of its annual Care Home Awards 2024 which recognises 20 of the top-rated care homes in each region of the UK based on reviews from residents and their family or friends.
Newstone House, in Sturminster Newton, was the 20th highest rated care home in the south west and also ranked 8th on the list of top-rated care homes across BCP and Dorset.
The care home opened in 2011 and is a dedicated facility for people living with dementia.
On carehome.co.uk, it has a review score of 10 (9.958) out of 10 based on reviews in the last 2 years, the 96 reviews have an average 'Overall Experience' of 5.0 out of 5.
One review posted by a relative of a resident said: “Absolutely amazing staff, with all friendly faces with bright happy smiles on.
“You can tell that all the staff are very committed to their jobs and make sure that the residents are very comfortable in the home from home like experience.”
Mark Aitchison, chief executive of Colten Care (the provider who owns Newstone House), said: “It’s especially pleasing to do so well on carehome.co.uk because the score is entirely based on independent reviews from residents and families.
“Newstone House has achieved its maximum score through hard work, commitment, professionalism and a whole team approach.
“Its success as a beacon of quality in Dorset, combining residential, nursing and dementia care, exemplifies the consistent standards of care across our homes and the vision to be outstanding that runs right through our culture."
The website also revealed that Anning House was the highest rated care home in the Weymouth and Portland area, with a review score of 9.7 (9.742) out of 10 based on reviews in the last 2 years.
