A community orchestra hope to welcome more musicians with a special performance at an upcoming open day.
The Dorchester Community Orchestra will be holding an open day to attract more players of any musical standard on Sunday, May 12 between 2.45pm to 5pm at the United Church on South Street.
As part of the open day, the orchestra will perform three pieces of music: the original Doctor Who theme by Ron Grainer, Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto (third movement) and Heitor Villa-Lobo’s The Little Train of The Caipira.
These pieces were chosen as they are part of BBC 10 Pieces – a musical education scheme meant to serve as an introduction to classical music.
