BERE Regis Rec saw a thriller as the hosts beat Martinstown CC by one wicket.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, struggling to 142 all out off 48 overs, with no individual bat reaching 50.
Finlay Williams top scored with 46 at number five, whilst none of the away side struck at over a 100 strike-rate - no 'Bazball' in this match!
The Regis bowlers shared the wickets around, Sean Walbridge taking 2-26 off his full 10, as did Sam Goodhew (2-34).
David Griffiths was a little more expensive but still took 2-18 off four, including the big wicket of Williams.
In response, none of the Bere Regis top four made double figures nor lasted 20 balls, Chris Read the chief destroyer with 2-20 in only five overs.
He made way for Jacob Coombs to earn the best figures of the match; 4-20 off his full 10 overs.
Charlie Durant, the other opener, went at under two runs per over with 1-19 off 10, also matching Coombs with three maidens.
The other four Martinstown bowlers were not as frugal, nor as potent, allowing number five Tim Goodhew 38 off 85 balls.
This was added to the tune of 20 from 56 balls by Richard Cole at number seven.
The game kept twisting and turning though.
David Griffiths dug in for four off 35 balls as did captain and wicketkeeper at number ten, Brian Keegan, who notched just a single off 23 balls.
Richard Payne’s 22* and Sean Walbridge’s four off four got the home side over the line with just three overs and one wicket remaining.
