DORCHESTER welcome Sherborne to Surcouf Park tomorrow, for the club’s final home game of the Counties 1 Tribute Southern South season (2.30pm).
Last time out the opposition won the contest when the injury-hit county town side met them in freezing conditions on their home soil.
Dorch will have debuts at Surcouf Park for Henry Bartlett, Sammy Lambourn, Ben Moles and Dylan Walters, who all join up with the senior squad, adding to the list of homegrown talent from the club’s successful youth section.
Team captain Steve Tucker will be looking to lead his side to victory, with Dorchester’s main club sponsor Highwood looking on along with the players Patrons, it would be a popular win should his young squad play to their abilities claim a surprise win over their high-flying visitors.
Centre Jamie Morgan will be looking to take his personal points tally for the season over 100 this weekend and claim his spot as the squad’s highest scorer for this campaign. Henry Quinney comes back into the side and will look to make some big carries from his back row slot, and the ever-present experience of Dave Cottell is available from the bench once more.
With results going their way elsewhere, but picking up points themselves, the county town 1st XV could still move up one place in the final table, consolidating their place in this competitive league for next season.
The club’s A XV also play at home this weekend coming off the back of a very strong win over Sherborne’s 2nd XV last time out. Dorchester face the side above them in the Counties 3 Tribute Dorset & Wilts South table, Oakmeadians 2nd XV.
Last time they met, Oaks got the better of the county town’s A XV, but captain Jamie Jackson will be looking to his side to continue their strong performance into this game.
